Create User Story
What is a User Story?
A user story is a short, simple description of a feature told from the perspective of the person who desires the new capability. User stories follow the format: "As a [type of user], I want [an action] so that [a benefit]." This format keeps the focus on user value.
Why Use the User Story Format?
User stories shift the conversation from "what should we build?" to "what problem are we solving for the user?" They are intentionally brief to encourage discussion between the team and stakeholders, rather than documenting every detail upfront.
Writing Good Acceptance Criteria
Acceptance criteria define when a user story is complete. Good criteria are specific, testable, and written from the users perspective. Use the Given-When-Then format for complex scenarios: Given [context], When [action], Then [expected result].
User Stories from Real Feedback
The best user stories come from actual user feedback. IdeaLift captures feedback from Slack, Discord, and support tickets, helping you write stories based on real user needs.
